Yesterday was my second time competing in the open age group division and I was able to get a spot on the podium behind two awesome ladies, Lauryn MacFawn & Sarah Alexander. It was cool to see them there, I recognized them from the Columbia Triathlon last month, where they killed it in Maryland as well.

I was so amped after hearing Bria Edwards and I were the first two open ladies out of the water, supporting Penn State Triathlon! (Speaking of Penn State, some awesome dude who passed me on the bike up the last hill of the first lap shouted "we are!" ..motivated me to kick it into another gear) I was excited to start out and stay behind Jason West during the swim. Totally saw him getting confused on where to go on the last buoy of the swim, haha. It was an awesome race all-in-all down in Philadelphia this weekend, I was ready to go fast and so was everyone else, excited to go back next year!

Hoping to continue some fast racing in my future, I've grown to thoroughly enjoy this sport. I love the training and I love the competitive atmosphere. I knew I needed to keep competing somehow after my collegiate swimming career ended at Buffalo, but I didn't know I would choose triathlon. My career began last summer in 2012 at the Bellefonte double loop and the Happy Valley sprint tris, where I started to fall in love with this incredible sport.
